"Draw us into your heart", is the theme for Sacred Heart's 150th Anniversary. Translated from the Latin, "Nos in Cor Tuum Trahe", which is visible above our church altar.
In 1869, the Rev. James Fitton bought two lots of land from the East Boston Land Company for $2,755 to build Sacred Heart Catholic Church. On February 6, 1873, ground was broken to build the church. The orignal church was designed in a wooden Gothic structure, and was dedicated on June 12, 1874. By 1906, the debt to build the church had been paid off and Sacred Heart Parish was the second strongest parish in East Boston. To learn more about our rich and vibrant history,

Jubilee Celebration - June 18, 2023
For 150 years Sacred Heart Catholic Parish has been serving God and the East Boston community. We plan to celebrate this historic milestone throughout 2023 and 2024 with a series of events and activites that are designed to bring us closer to God. The main celebration will be held on June 18, with a special Mass celebrated by Cardinal Sean O'Malley at 10:00 a.m. Following Mass, we will gather for a celebratory luncheon at Spinelli's in Lynnfield.
